On the first Friday in August the Christchurch team, along with our Auckland and Wellington Regional Managers, prepared to head up to Mt Hutt for our annual ski day. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other ideas and the ski field was closed due to high winds.
Luckily for us, the Hanmer Springs village is a stone’s throw from Christchurch so we headed off to the Hurunui District for our team day out.
After an obligatory pie stop in Culverden, the team was ready for what we had in store. The crew headed off on their activity of choice; for some that was an adrenaline filled mountain bike led by biking extraordinaire (and Cequent PD) Will Oswald. Our second group headed off for a run up Conical Hill (although we suspect it was just around the block before sneaking off to the pools early!). And the final group headed off for a leisurely walk around the shops and a coffee or two at a local café.
After everyone reconvened (and muddy bikers were hosed off) we met up at the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa complex for some wood fired pizzas, followed by a relaxing soak. We also got a sneak peek at the progress being made on the new hyrdoslide and thermal pools which Cequent Projects are leading. Roll on summer 2019 when the team plans to return for a test run of the newly named Conical Thrill hydroslide and pools!
Once our skin had sufficiently shrivelled, it was time to get moving and make tracks to Waipara Hills Winery to experience their wine tasting journey with Dennis. The “patio pounder” is now an essential part of our office lingo (aka an easy to drink chardonnay).
It was a very successful day out with our fantastic team! We look forward to hitting the slopes next year….hopefully.
