Spitfire Memorial and Icarus Wall Dedication

"A tribute to those who like the mythical Icarus, flew too high and too close to the sun to then fall from the sky, was dedicated last Sunday.  Members of the Christchurch Brevet Club and invited guests gathered at the new Spitfire Square to participate in the ceremony.  The replica MK 16 Spitfire and Icarus Wall which stood beside the former Brevet Club, once more grace Memorial Avenue.  Deputy Mayor Vicki Buck unveiled and Rev Peter Beck blessed this powerful memorial to all the men and women who built, serviced and flew these legendary aircraft, as a surviving example circled overhead in salute."
