Witch Hill War Memorial
The war memorial is accessible only by foot and nestled at the peak of Witch Hill, with steep falls on all sides.
Christchurch Helicopters airlifted the contractors essential equipment and supplies to a designated set down area at the peak. The storage shed had to be light enough to lift, but solid enough to withstand the environment. The shed was anchored to the bedrock and tested a few days later in gale force winds. Requirements on the site were also unique, with the contractor advising daily staff numbers safely up and down the hilll for health and safety recording purposes and extra supplies being transported up the hilll in case of any unforseen circumstances.
Cequent Projects heritage specialist Jo Grigg took project management to new heights on 9th March, for the repair of the Witch Hill War Memorial in the Port Hills of Christchurch.
