Robert McDougall Art Gallery

Robert McDougall Gallery is a Category 1 heritage listed building, formerly the Christchurch Art Gallery.

The 1930’s building was assessed as an earthquake prone building under Section 122 of the Building Act 2004 – due to brittle collapse from unreinforced brickwork.

Cequent managed a complex design assessment for the seismic enhancement of this building. This included a 5.5m long trial concrete core down through a 180mm wide brick wall to assess impact on the building fabric.
